Shooting at Howe Park Wounds 4 People Shot in the Arden-Arcade Area of Sacramento

Sacramento County deputies are investigating a gun violence incident that occurred on April 18 2026 at Howe Park at the moment officers were dissolving an unsanctioned gathering of several hundred people.

Before the Gunfire

Sacramento County law enforcement first arrived at the park on Howe Avenue shortly before 6:30 in the evening after learning of subjects reportedly carrying hidden weapons. Soon after, a follow-up call was made describing a possible physical fight taking place at the location.

A law enforcement helicopter was sent to survey the area but was unable to locate the reported altercation. Regardless, authorities discovered that hundreds of people had congregated at Howe Park without permission.

The Moment Gunfire Erupted

Law enforcement personnel moved to clear the area by setting up around the park's perimeter and announcing over their public address systems directing the hundreds present to leave immediately. Roughly 15 minutes were provided for attendees to disperse.

It was during this dispersal that between 20 and 25 rounds were fired. The barrage of check here gunfire triggered a stampede. Law enforcement at once began finding those who had been shot.

Four Victims Hospitalized

Ultimately, four people were confirmed as gunshot victims. The shooting victims — comprising three men and one woman each reported to be in their 20s at the time of the incident — were brought to area medical facilities. Medical personnel confirmed that two of the four had injuries classified as immediate, one victim's injuries were classified as moderate, and one suffered minor injuries. Fortunately, all four were expected to survive.

The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire Department were called to the scene and helped care for the four victims on location.

Evidence at the Scene

The main crime scene seemed to have been concentrated near the Cottage Way side of the park adjacent to the Home Depot located at the 2200 Howe Avenue block. CSI personnel found additional spent rounds throughout the Cottage Way area. Ballistic damage were discovered in the wrought iron perimeter fencing near the Home Depot store. This evidence suggested that one of the gunmen had been aiming south from the Cottage Way area aimed at the Home Depot store. The Home Depot was temporarily locked down as a precaution. CSI investigators and detectives kept processing evidence well into the night.

Suspect Vehicle Located

Information relayed through law enforcement radio communications showed that a vehicle identified as a Kia had been detained in Solano County. Four suspects were held for questioning. Deputies were sent to retrieve the detainees to pick up those detained for formal questioning. Video reviewed at the scene made clear that there were two gunmen.
